My interactions with staff the night of the concert were universally pleasant. This venue is not a polished place by any means, and if you're looking for a gleaming facility you would be wise to check out a place like the Eastman Theatre. Heck, the men's bathroom was even fairly clean: almost unheard of at smaller concert/bar joints like this! But if you're looking for a cozy little pub to enjoy live music without breaking the bank, The Montage is a terrific place. Walking in to the place you have the bar to your right. On the left you have the entrances to the main stage area. The place has a nice intimacy to it whether a jazz or rock show. The first show I saw here was the Misfits a few years OK. The show had a good vibe with a full audience. The place has a capacity of about 300 and there really isn't a place where you don't have a good view of the stage. The cheapest day to go to an event at Montage Music Hall is Saturday, where the average historical price for Montage Music Hall events is 27.76. Bands need to walk through the audience to get to the stage which adds to the vibe. I haven't seen another rock show here mainly because they haven't had many bands I have been interested in. I wanted to see Doro here but that was on the worst weather day a few winters ago so I couldn't make it. I have had the pleasure of seeing some nice jazz shows here during the Rochester Jazz Fest the past few years including Brain Cloud, Moutin Factory Quintet, Renee Rosnes Quartet, Ikebe Shakedown, Tesse Souter and Ibrahim Electric to name a few. When a good band gets playing, the atmosphere here gets electric. I wish during Jazz Fest they would not put so many tables so close because certain areas get cramped but if you get a good seat, you can't help loving the show. Parking is OK but get down early to get free street parking.Robbers. Your income source is literally from the bands and their fans that walk through those doors. You profit off from the tickets the bands sell and the drinks that their fans buy while listening. In return for them bringing you business they are supposed to get paid. Which is fine whats not fine is that tonight you refused to pay a band because they didnt sell all 50 tickets instead they sold 45. So they still had to perform and never saw a single dime. Instead you pocketed $900 that you did not deserve, over $900 if you include people that bought drinks- which they wouldnt have done had they known you screwed over the band they supported. I will never step foot into your run down establishment again. You do not deserve the business being brought to you and any bands that respect themselves, their efforts and their fans should not book shows here. I would have never bought 3 tickets had i known the band wouldnt see any of that money. Jaret & Rob of Bowling For Soup - February 26 at The Montage Music Hall Hosted By The Montage Music Hall.
